Transfer Credit Guidelines

ASL courses offered at a different institution are often not equivalent based on course content, curriculum and credit hours.  Therefore, transfer students wishing to continue their ASL studies at UConn are required to meet with one of our ASL instructors for an informal language assessment to ensure that they are appropriately enrolled in one of our six levels of ASL.  This also applies to students who have studied ASL in high school or who have life experiences and would like to continue their ASL studies at UConn.   Please note, ASL courses taken outside of UConn will transfer as generic credits and does not guarantee placement into the next level of ASL. Online ASL courses are not accepted per University Transfer Credit Guidelines.

Any questions or if a student would like to schedule a time for an informal ASL language assessment with one of our ASL staff, contact Linda Pelletier at linda.pelleiter@uconn.edu.
